Gunmen on Sunday night killed six people in Ikn’gwakap community, Mushere Chiefdom of Bokkos Local Government Area in Plateau State.
Eyewitnesses said the attackers, who stormed the community at midnight, shot sporadically and set several homes ablaze.
In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Kutyil Gashion Nahum, the Mushere Youth Movement confirmed the attack, describing it as brutal and devastating.
“On the night of Sunday, 14th September, 2025, about six innocent persons, including women and children, were murdered in their sleep in Ikn’gwakap, the Headquarters of Mushere Chiefdom. Several others remain missing, leaving families in fear, trauma, and uncertainty,” the statement read.
The group lamented the repeated attacks on Mushere communities without arrests, stressing that the failure of security agencies calls for a total overhaul of the security architecture in the area.
It urged government at all levels to act swiftly, warning that continued silence and inaction only embolden perpetrators.
“The blood of our people must not continue to be shed in vain. The time for decisive action is now,” the group declared.
