A new Commissioner of Police, CP, has been posted to Akwa Ibom Police Command, one week after another was redeployed and introduced to senior officers of the command in the state

The new CP, Imohimi Oluwole Edgal is taking over from CP Kenneth Ebrimson who lasted one week as the 29th Commissioner of Police deployed to the State and has assumed duty.

A statement from the state Police Public Relations Officer, MacDon Odiko and made available to newsmen yesterday in Uyo indicate that the posting was approved by the Inspector General of Police.

According to the statement, the new Police commissioner before being redeployed to Always Ibom was the Commissioner of Police for Ogun State Police Command.

He holds a Master Degree in Public and International Affairs from the University of Lagos, a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in History from the University of Jos, and a Diploma in Police Science.

He was appointed into the Nigeria Police Force as a cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police on the 1st of February, 1986 and served the Force in various capacities within and outside the country especially in Lagos.

Edgal whose legacies precedes him as a community policing advocate, is reputed for mobilizing a joint security operation which to a large extent tackled the menace of the deadly Badoo Cult group known for killing several persons in Ikorodu and Ogijo areas of Lagos and Ogun States.

“He has promised to entrench visibility and community based policing in line with international best practices to bring crime to the lowest level in the State. He is therefore calling on the good people of Akwa Ibom State to respect the law at all times and accord him the needed support to succeed.” The statement concluded.
