The Akwa Ibom State Government has proposed a budget estimate of **N955 billion** for the 2025 fiscal year and approved an **N82.4 billion** augmentation to the 2024 Appropriation Bill.

This decision followed the weekly Executive Council Meeting chaired by Governor Umo Eno in Uyo.

According to a statement endorsed by the Commissioner for Information, Comrade Ini Ememobong, the proposed 2025 budget includes a **recurrent expenditure of N300 billion**, reflecting a **14% decrease** from 2024, and a **capital expenditure of N655 billion**, marking a **13% increase** compared to the previous year.

The statement also highlighted a projected Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of **N80 billion**, representing a **28% rise** over the 2024 projection.

During the meeting, Governor Umo Eno urged all government officers and Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to remain proactive and meet their mandates with precision and urgency. He emphasized the administration’s zero tolerance for mediocrity and failure to achieve targets.

Additionally, the Council approved the implementation of a **65-year retirement age** for non-academic staff of state-owned tertiary institutions. This policy will take effect from **January 2025**.
