By  Milcah  Tanimu

The Chartered Institute of Directors Nigeria (CIoD Nigeria) is set to inaugurate Alhaji Tijjani Mohammed Borodo as its new president, entrusting him with the leadership of the institute and its affairs for the next two years. CIoD Nigeria serves as the foremost corporate governance institute and advocate for ethical professional standards in Nigeria.

This transition follows the completion of Dr. Ije Jidenma’s two-year tenure as president, during which she dutifully served the institute in the same capacity.

The Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of CIoD Nigeria announced that the official investiture ceremony is scheduled to take place on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at 6 pm in Victoria Island, Lagos.

Alhaji Borodo was elected as President following a legitimate election at the institute’s 39th Annual General Meeting on June 22, 2023, held at the Institute’s Secretariat in Ikoyi, Lagos.

Alhaji Tijjani Borodo, a Fellow of the Institute of Directors Nigeria and a distinguished lawyer, has a rich history of service within the institute. He has held various key positions, including First Vice President, Second Vice President, Chairman of the Finance & General-Purpose Committee, Chairman of the Membership and Branch Development Committee, and Honorary Legal Adviser, among others.

In addition to his contributions to the institute, Alhaji Tijjani Borodo is the founder and principal partner at Tijjani M. Borodo & Associates Law Firm, and he is widely respected as an accomplished boardroom executive. He is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), a member of the International Bar Association (IBA), and an alumnus of the esteemed Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and the University of Essex, United Kingdom.

Furthermore, Alhaji Borodo serves as an Independent Non-Executive Director at Cowry Asset Management Limited, Signature Bank Limited, and Sanlam Life Insurance Nigeria Limited, showcasing his extensive experience in the corporate and legal sectors.
