Alhaji Zazzaga Commends Organisers of Gov. Mutfwang’s Reception into APC

By Israel Adamu, Jos

Chairman of the North-Central All Progressives Congress (APC) Forum, Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, has commended members of the party’s organising committees in Plateau State for what he described as a highly successful and well-coordinated reception for Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang following his formal defection to the APC.

Zazzaga, in a statement issued in Jos, praised the party’s leadership and committees for their exemplary roles in ensuring the smooth conduct of the event, which held on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at the Jos Polo Field.

He particularly singled out the Contact and Mobilisation Committee, chaired by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Eradication, Dr. Bernard Doro, with Hon. Ephraim Usman, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, playing a key role, for their outstanding efforts in mobilising stakeholders and coordinating activities that ensured the success of the reception.

Zazzaga also lauded the General Manager of Plateau Express Services, Hon. Samuel Gwott, for his contributions, which he said were instrumental in making the event a resounding success.

The grand reception marked a significant political milestone in the North-Central geopolitical zone, drawing high-profile dignitaries from across the country. Among those in attendance were Vice President Kashim Shettima, who represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu; APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda; Senate President Godswill Akpabio; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas; and leaders of the Progressive Governors’ Forum.

Speaking on behalf of the North-Central APC Forum, Zazzaga further commended the Central Planning Committee, led by former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase, for what he described as meticulous planning and seamless execution of the event.

He noted that the committee ensured effective logistics, robust security arrangements, efficient crowd management and broad stakeholder participation, all of which contributed to the memorable and orderly atmosphere recorded at the reception.

“The North-Central APC Forum salutes the committee members for their tireless commitment and professionalism in delivering a befitting welcome for His Excellency, Governor Caleb Mutfwang,” Zazzaga said.

He added that the successful event had strengthened the unity of the APC in Plateau State and further consolidated the party’s dominance across the North-Central zone, paving the way for deeper collaboration with the Federal Government under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Zazzaga, who had previously led calls for Governor Mutfwang to align with the APC, described the reception as the successful culmination of sustained efforts aimed at political realignment in the interest of Plateau State and the wider region.

He said the event underscored the growing strength of the APC and highlighted prospects for accelerated development, peace and inclusive governance across the North-Central.

Our correspondent reports that the reception followed Governor Mutfwang’s formal resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in late December 2025 and his subsequent alignment with the APC earlier in January 2026.

At the event, the governor formally received the APC flag and broom symbol, pledged his full support for President Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid, and assured the party of massive electoral support from Plateau State and the North-Central zone.

Zazzaga urged party leaders and stakeholders to sustain the momentum generated by the reception by focusing on reconciliation, effective service delivery and consolidation of the APC’s gains ahead of future elections.

He reaffirmed that the North-Central APC Forum remains committed to promoting progressive ideals and supporting initiatives that foster unity, peace and sustainable development across the zone.
