APC Will Win Edo Governorship Election – Ganduje

Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), expressed confidence on Thursday that the party will secure a victory in the upcoming Edo governorship election, scheduled for September 21.

Ganduje made these remarks while hosting the leadership of the Kano State Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), led by its Chairman, Aminu Garko. He emphasized that the party has set up a robust political strategy to ensure a decisive win for its candidate.

“I believe our campaign is in high spirits. We are preparing for the election, and we are confident we will reclaim our state,” Ganduje stated. “Edo was an APC state, but due to internal issues, we lost it to the PDP. However, we are certain we will win it back.”

Ganduje also discussed the situation in Ondo State, affirming that it remains an APC stronghold despite challenges following the death of the former governor. “We conducted primaries and succeeded in choosing the candidate the people want,” he added, noting that the party is ready for the upcoming election in November.

He further highlighted the significance of winning Edo, which would increase the APC’s control to 21 out of the 36 states in Nigeria. Ganduje also mentioned plans to expand the party’s influence in Anambra, a state long governed by the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

He remarked, “The North and South-East political zones are all claiming marginalization. What we are telling them is that this marginalization is self-inflicted. How can you have five states ruled by four political parties? This weakens their political bargaining power.”

Ganduje concluded by emphasizing the party’s efforts to strengthen its presence in the South-East, stating, “We already have Ebonyi and Imo. Now, we are working to ensure we capture more states, starting with Anambra. Our goal is to secure as many states as possible.”
