A northern youth group has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to remove the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (retd.), citing concerns over the current security situation in parts of the country. The call was made by the President of the group, Abdul Danbature, during an interview aired on News Century TV.
Danbature said the group was expressing dissatisfaction with the security situation and urged the federal government to review leadership within the defence sector. “We celebrated the appointment of General Christopher Musa when he assumed office, but we believe there is a need for urgent action to address the current security challenges,” he said. The group alleged that recent attacks had resulted in the deaths of several military personnel and an increase in kidnappings in some areas.
Danbature urged the federal government to take decisive measures to strengthen the fight against insecurity and improve the safety of both military personnel and civilians. He also called for greater accountability and strategic leadership in addressing security challenges across the country. There has been no official response from the Ministry of Defence regarding the group’s remarks at the time of filing this report.
