Army Chief Orders Investigation into Alleged Brutality by Soldiers

Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, the Acting Chief of Army Staff (COAS), has ordered an immediate investigation into reports of brutality by Nigerian Army officers.

Maj.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, shared the news in a statement. The investigation follows the circulation of a viral video showing a senior army officer and two soldiers engaging in an altercation with a man and woman in Abuja.

Although the full details of the incident remain unclear, Lt.-Gen. Oluyede has emphasized the need to uncover the facts. He reassured the public that the Nigerian Army will continue to protect law-abiding citizens, as stipulated in the Constitution.

The Army Chief affirmed that investigators will handle the case with diligence to ensure a fair conclusion.
