The Benue Digital Infrastructure Company (BDIC) has reaffirmed its mandate from the Benue State Government to enhance revenue generation and create jobs for the people of the state.
Group Managing Director (GMD) of BDIC, Mr. Terwase Gbande Hembaor, stated this while presenting his one-year scorecard at a press briefing held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) House in Makurdi.
Mr. Hembaor explained that BDIC was established as a special-purpose vehicle to drive digital infrastructure development in the state, noting that its mandate is to provide holistic solutions for faster socio-economic growth.
According to him, the company aims to diversify the state’s economy beyond agriculture by leveraging technology and digital infrastructure. He stressed that the initiative would add value to agricultural products and transform governance through digitization.
“Government established BDIC as a special vehicle to drive digital infrastructure development in the state. We came in with one mandate: to drive digital intervention,” he said.
He revealed that BDIC had engaged all 23 local government areas in the state and plans to set up digital halls in each council area, equipped with 1,000 computers per LGA, to enhance access to digital resources.
