Worried over the renewed attacks on Benue communities by suspected Fulani militia, where several lives have been reportedly lost and property worth billions of naira destroyed with many victims still missing, a Benue born Philanthropist based in Abuja, Engr Jerome Ugboho, has sued for unity of purpose among the stakeholders to profer lasting solution to the carnage.
Ugboho who made the call in a statement released to Journalists in Makurdi, while reacting to the insurgence targeting some communities in the state including Otobi-Akpa in Otukpo, Agatu and most recently, the killing of 56 innocent farmers as confirmed by the Benue State Government, at Tyuluv, Saror and Mbawar in Ukum Local Government Area, Une Katsina-Ala and Gondozua in Logo Local Government Area by suspected Fulani Herdsmen.
The Philanthropist who condemned in its entirety the nefarious act, described it as a black day for Sankera and the entire Benue State. He described the unwarranted and barbaric attacks on helpless and unarmed farmers as totally unacceptable.
Ugboho, noted that the attacks have become too many, emphasizing the need for all stakeholders irrespective of political affiliation by harnessing ideas that would bring practical and lasting solutions to the wanton killings and destruction of property.
He sympathized with those who lost loved ones and the displaced persons as a result of the tragic incident. He prayed to God to grant the souls of the departed eternal rest and those left behind the fortitude to bear the irreparable loses.
Ugboho, implored security operatives to intensify efforts towards combating the menace and to ensure that peace return to the affected communities.
