Benue SEC Approves Demolition of All Illegal Structures, Frowns at Collapsed Church Building

Benue State Executive Council, SEC, has approved the demolition of all illegal structures including those on waterways.
Briefing Journalists after the State Executive Council, which was presided over by the Deputy Governor, Barr Sam Ode, the Commissioner of Works and Housing, Mr Tiza Imojime, said that council approved that all structures that lack integrity test including those on waterways should be demolished.
“The State Executive Council resolved that every building in the state that lacks integrity test, including those on the waterways should be demolished.” He explained that the decision is to ensure the protection of lives and property of the people.
The Commissioner disclosed that council frowned at the collapsed Dunamis Church building in the North Bank area of Makurdi, which claimed the life of a Pastor.
He stressed that SEC, mandated the Ministries of Works and Housing, Lands and Survey, Urban Development to look at the remote causes of the collapsed church building, maintaining that investigations are still on.
Mr Tiza Imojime, contended that he has embarked on an assessment of road infrastructure in the state to have first-hand information on their status.
“Federal roads in the state have also been assessed and efforts are on to meet relevant Federal agencies to intervene, pointing out that plans have reached an advanced stage to address the general state of road infrastructures in the state.”
