Benue SEMA Collaborates with Development Partners to Mitigate Humanitarian Crises

State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, Benue State in collaboration with humanitarian organizations have put in place mechanism to reduce its effect on the people.

The Executive Secretary of the agency, Mr James Iorpuu who disclosed this during a meeting with partners and stakeholders, explained that efforts are being stepped up to mitigate flooding in the state for speedy development.

Mr Iorpuu contended that the technical committee on flooding in Benue State is to submit the action plan and budget to Governor, Hyacinth Alia for approval.

He lauded the humanitarian organizations and other stakeholders over their prompt response to humanitarian crises in the state, especially donation of relief materials to the displaced persons.

Commenting on resettlement of the Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, the SEMA boss pointed out that international organizations on migrants have pledged to verify the number of IDPs, stressing that after the exercise, resettlement will be done.

In a related development, Mr Iorpuu has condemned in its entirety the recent killing of eight persons at Ortese and Mgban communities in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State by suspected herdsmen Militia.
