*Vows to Dismantle Illegal Revenue Check Points

Benue State Government is to clamp down on Violators of revenue law as well as dismantle all Illegal revenue check points across the state in order to improve the revenue profile of the state.

Briefing Journalists at the Government House Makurdi shortly after a stakeholders meeting, Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, warned that people operating illegal check points should desist from this dasterdly act or face the full wrath of the law.

” The meeting resolved that Illegal revenue check points should be dismantled” to block the leakages, pointing out that ” anybody operating Illegal revenue check points must be made to face the law” to show as a deterrent to others.

According to the Governor, several persons have been suspended in connection with the revenue leakages, stressing that revenue receipts printed illegally have been uncovered.

” All revenue collected by Ministries, Departments and Agencies are to be remitted to the Benue State Government’s accounts”, the Governor explained.

Ortom noted that the State Executive Council is to write the Benue State House of Assembly for possible amendment of the Benue State tax law to improve the Internally Generated Revenue, IGR, of the state.

Meanwhile, the meeting resolved that Local Governments should reduce multiple taxation to encourage business transactions in their various domains. Ends
