Beyoncé Knowles-Carter made history once again at the 2025 Grammy Awards, earning 11 nominations and taking home two awards, which brought her total Grammy count to an extraordinary 34.
In a groundbreaking achievement, she became the first Black woman to win the Best Country Album award for ‘Cowboy Carter’. The award was presented by Taylor Swift, creating a historic moment for both Beyoncé and the country music genre.
Already the most-awarded Grammy artist of all time, a title she earned in 2023 with ‘Renaissance’, Beyoncé expanded her record with two more wins at this year’s ceremony.
Accepting the award in astonishment, Beyoncé said, “Wow, I really was not expecting this. Oh my God, I want to thank God. I’m just so grateful to still be doing what I love after all these years!”
She continued, “I’d like to thank all the amazing country artists who embraced this album. We worked so hard on it. Sometimes genre can be a barrier to artistic expression, but I want to encourage everyone to follow their passions and remain persistent.”
Beyoncé also thanked her family, her collaborators, and her fans, saying, “This wouldn’t have been possible without all of you. I’m still in shock, so thank you for this incredible honor.”
Cowboy Carter, released in March 2024, was a milestone project that highlighted Black artists in country music. Beyoncé has previously shared the challenges she faced when initially exploring the genre, making this Grammy win even more significant.
At the 2025 Grammys, Beyoncé’s nominations included Album of the Year and Best Country Album for *Cowboy Carter*. Her song “Texas Hold ‘Em” was nominated for Song of the Year, Record of the Year, and Best Country Song, while “16 Carriages” and “Ya Ya” earned nods for Best Country Solo Performance and Best Americana Performance, respectively.
