Bingham University to Award ₦231.3m Scholarships to 779 Students

Bingham University, Karu, Nasarawa State, says it will award scholarships worth ₦231.3 million to 779 students in the current academic year.The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Haruna Kuje Ayuba, disclosed this while addressing the 73rd General Church Council of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) in Jos. He also announced that the university had fully settled its debt to ECWA Portfolio Management Limited.

According to him, the institution continues to expand, with more than 9,000 students enrolled across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Ayuba said the university currently has 15 faculties, one College of Medical Sciences, 63 departments, 48 undergraduate programmes, and 59 postgraduate programmes. For the 2025/2026 academic session, he noted that 1,805 undergraduate students matriculated, while 753 postgraduate students were admitted.

He also disclosed that 87 academic staff and 90 non-teaching staff were promoted during the period. On research development, the Vice-Chancellor said the Zankli Research Institute secured a $928,508 grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for tuberculosis diagnostics research. He added that the university’s Neuroscience group also received a $15,500 grant from the International Brain Research Organization.

Ayuba urged ECWA to continue viewing the university as a mission-driven institution contributing to national development through professional training in fields such as medicine, pharmacy, and information technology. He said the institution still requires additional infrastructure, including hostels, laboratories, road networks, ICT upgrades, and a convocation arena.
