Professor Babagana Umara Zulum governor of BORNO state, has commenced the distribution of assorted seeds, farm Kits and #5,000 cash donation to 10,000 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) to enable them participate in the 2019 farming deason.
Speaking the Governor assured the beneficiaries of the commitment of his administration’s to security of lives and property of the citizens and boosting of agricultural activities in the state.
“I’m highly pleased to commence the distribution of seeds and other equally important farm implements to, IDP returnees and other farmers for the 2019 farming season.
“Today’s occasion therefore, symbolizes the beginning of the distribution of highly needed seeds to farmers in Borno state, especially farmers who find it difficult to procure for themselves.
“This administration plans to distribute seeds and cash for this year’s wet and dry season farming to about 100,000 farmers across the state before December”
He directed the State Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Resettlement, Ministry of Poverty Alleviation as well as the Borno State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to begin profiling other beneficiaries in other areas to benefit from the governennt gesture with immediate effect.
He used the occasion to advise the beneficiaries to make proper use of the items distributed, warning them against selling it or using it as food and charged them to report any irregularities they see and warned the officials to discharge their duties deligently.
Highlight of the event was the symbolic presentation of the items to some of the IDPs at the Muna garage IDP camp Maiduguri.
Earlier, Barr. Bajale Musa, acting Permanent Secretary ministry of Agriculture in an address, welcomed the Governor and disclosed that the flagging off ceremony was a demonstration of the Governor’s commitment to his administration ten(10) point agenda.
Hear him, “Within the 34 days of the Government, both human and machineries have been mobilized to cultivate over 10,000 hectares of land.
Also,Secretary Borno State Emergency Management Agency ( SEMA), Alhaji Bulama Dawud Kyari,hinted that,the Muna IDP Camp accommodates IDPs from Mafa, Marte, Jere, Dikwa, Gamboru Ngala, Kala Balge, Konduga and Bama Local Government Areas comprising of 34,741 IDPs and 6,159 households.
After flagging off the farm kits and other items, the Governor proceeded to Khaddamari, the headquarters of Jere Local Government Area, Zabarmari, Dusuman towns,where he told the villagers to be supportive of security measures, and collaborate with the military, CJTF and vigilante hunters.
He explained to them governments commitment to education, health, agriculture and entrepreneurship among others to improve their living conditions and boost the states economy.
