Borno State Police command has placed restriction on vehicular movement on Sallah day up till noon for residents of Maiduguri and Jere Local Government Area.
This was contained in a press statement made available to the media in the state, signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Superintendent Edet Okon,on behalf of the commissioner of police, CP Bello Makwashi.
According to the statement, the restriction will affect all motor vehicles, tricycles, bicycles, wheelbarrows, and all animal transport and advised the people to comply and to arrive early at praying grounds nearest to their homes to avoid eleventh-hour rush and stampede as security screening will be enforced in all Eid grounds.
It also advised the worshippers to ensure the use of face masks, and to observe social distancing and other safety measures, put in place by the government to curb the new wave of the Corona virus.
Bags, weapons, or sharp objects of any sort will not be entertained into the praying grounds.
Parents and guardians are to be mindful of their children and wards at the praying grounds to avoid the missing of their children.
The Police have been placed on red alert during the festivities and advised worshippers to cooperate with security operatives to ensure safety of lives and property during and after the prayers and to continue to be security-conscious and report all suspicious movements of persons to the police, or other security agencies in the state.
