Breaking: Five Zamfara legislators sacked

Must read

From Abba Kabara, Gusau.

Zamfara state house of assembly under the leadership of speaker Hon. Sanusi Garba Rikiji has at an extraordinary session today, suspended five of its members for alleged divided political loyalty.

Those affected include Hon. Dayyabu Rijiya, Hon. Mansur Musa Bungudu, Hon. Abdullahi Maikano, Hon. Mallam Mani M. mumini and Hon. Salisu Musa Tsafe who were suspended at a sudden reconvenance of the assembly from a short recess.

It would be recalled that recently, during an exta-ordinary session, the legislative chamber effected the sacking of three local council vice chairmen of Gummi, Birning Magaji and Zurmi local governments.

During the same session, the assembly has also opproved the tenure extension of the fourteen local council chairmen of the state by three months.

Their tenure, which would officially terminate on the 2nd of January this year, was now extended to terminate on the 2nd of April this year.

Frantic efforts to persuade the speaker, his deputy Hon. Muhammad Gummi or the public Relations Officer (PRO) of the assenbly proved abortive.

An insider source who confided on our reporter has however, said that the action was politically motivated for showing allegiance to anti-government APC factional camp known as G-8.
