By Abigail Philip David

Two students from Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi, Benue State, were kidnapped by armed men late Tuesday night outside the university campus.

A student of the institution, Ashar Lubem, revealed in a phone conversation on Wednesday that four students were taken, sparking fear among the university community.

“Some gunmen kidnapped four students outside campus yesterday evening. We have yet to hear from them. Everyone is in panic because of the incident,” Lubem said.

Confirming the abduction, Benue Police Public Relations Officer, Sewuese Anene, stated that the command had received reports of only two students being kidnapped. She assured that an investigation was underway and more details would be provided soon.
