Breaking News: Adejumoke Aderounmu, Famous for “Esther” Role in Jenifa’s Diary, Passes Away at 40

Nollywood mourns the loss of talented actress Adejumoke Aderounmu, best known for her iconic portrayal of “Esther” in Funke Akindele’s hit TV series, Jenifa’s Diary.

Aderounmu’s brother, Adeola Aderounmu, confirmed her passing in a poignant Instagram post, bidding farewell to his beloved sister with a solemn caption, “You are in a better place now.” Meanwhile, a close friend, Oluwabanke Funmi, expressed her grief on Twitter, lamenting the loss of her cousin.

Born on March 26, 1984, Aderounmu departed this world on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at a private hospital, leaving behind a legacy of remarkable talent and unforgettable performances. The cause of her untimely death remains undisclosed at this time.

Family, friends, and fans gathered to pay their last respects at a solemn funeral service held at Owu Baptist Church in Totoro, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Remembered as a versatile actress with a passion for her craft, Aderounmu’s journey in the entertainment industry began in her hometown of Abeokuta. Her breakthrough role as Esther in Jenifa’s Diary endeared her to audiences, showcasing her exceptional acting prowess and earning her widespread acclaim.

Beyond Jenifa’s Diary, Aderounmu graced the screen in numerous English and Yoruba movies, captivating audiences with her talent and dedication. From her early roles to her later performances in Dazzling Mirage, Industreet, and Alakada 2, she left an indelible mark on Nollywood.

Aderounmu’s legacy transcends her on-screen achievements, embodying resilience, passion, and an unwavering commitment to her art. Though she may be gone, her memory will live on through her timeless performances and the lives she touched in the world of entertainment.
