British-American Interchange (Fly Over) Construction: Traffic Diversions Commence As Contractors Take Possession Of Site

The traffic diversions earlier announced by the Plateau State Ministry of Works have finally taken effect as the contractors moved to the site in the early hours of Monday 31st January 2022 to block the required areas that will enable them break ground.

At the site around 4am was the Commissioner for Works Hon. Pam Bot-Mang, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Works Engr. Alexander Plangnaan, the Site Engineer of the Contracting firm Engr Charbell, to ensure that the exercise was carried out seamlessly.

Speaking on the development, Commissioner for Works Pam Bot-Mang said the exercise was very key to the commencement of the project.

He reiterated his appeal to the citizens to cooperate with the situation and bear the inconveniences that will occur as a result of the diversions.

Bot-Mang said “we are excited that the contractors are moving to site to commence the work. This is significant for the government and people of the State who have long yearned for a relief to the traffic gridlock in the British-American Junction. His Excellency Governor Simon Bako Lalong has assured that this problem will soon be a thing of the past as the Flyover is constructed. Our duty is to make sure that his promise to the people of Plateau State is fulfilled in record time. This diversions are very necessary to achieving that mandate”.

Bot-Mang also called on motorists to use the alternative routes earlier listed out and be patient because such pains will eventually give birth to joy of the new infrastructure that will greatly impact on the well being of the people and the economy of the State.

Site Engineer of the contracting firm Engr Charbell appreciated the efforts of the Government in sensitizing the public towards the smooth take off of the project, assuring that the company will operate professionally and with the highest consideration for safety and caution.

With this development, the road closure will be at the Plateau State Water Board water treatment plant for the Dogon Karfe Axis; At the Guaranty Trust Bank U-turn for the Murtala Mohammed Way axis; And at Film Corporation junction for Liberty Boulevard axis.

Motorists are advised to find alternative routes to their destinations some of which include the following:
1. Tudun Wada Ring road to Domkat Bali Road.
2. Secretariat junction through Plateau Hospital Road.
3. Plateau Hospital roundabout through D. B. Zang way.
4. Abbattoir-Dogon Karfe through Plateau State Dental Hospital Road.
5. Abbattoir-Dogon Karfe Roundabout through Hopehill Hospital to Ministry of Lands and Survey-ECWA Headquarters Road.
6. Rayfield to Lamingo Road.
7. Gold and Base through Shiaka to Liberty Boulevard Road.
The same will apply for those leaving Jos township to Bukuru and beyond.
