China Bank Approves $255M for Kano-Kaduna Railway

By   Milcah    Tanimu

The China Development Bank has approved a $255 million loan for Nigeria’s Kano-Kaduna railway project. This funding will boost transportation and strengthen economic ties between Nigeria and China.

The project will create a 203-kilometre railway connecting Kano and Kaduna. It is part of a $973 million effort to improve transportation in the region. Construction had been delayed due to funding issues but will now move forward.

The new railway will reduce security risks faced by road travelers. Attacks by armed gangs have plagued the area, and the railway will offer a safer travel alternative.

The Kano-Kaduna project is part of China’s Belt and Road Initiative. China has provided substantial infrastructure loans to Nigeria, strengthening bilateral relations.

The $255 million loan marks a milestone in Nigeria’s railway development. The completed project will improve travel safety and support economic growth in northern Nigeria.
