Christmas:Onilu urges Nigerians to Renew their love, brotherhood

By Joyce Remi- Babayeju

The Director General, National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mallam Lanre Issa- Onilu has urged Nigerians to take advantage of the season of Christmas celebration to pray for renewed spirit of love, unity and brotherhood amongst the citizens.

In a Christmas message, Onilu made this call noting that Nigeria had come a long way in its journey of nationhood and must not allow wrangling and discord to threaten the bond of unity it has enjoyed.

He said Christmas portrays the love which God has for mankind by identifying and uniting with man through the birth of Jesus Christ.

He therefore stressed the need to renew the bond of love, unity and kindred spirit among Nigerians by emulating the virtues of Jesus Christ, adding that it would facilitate the realization of the Renewed Hope Agenda of the present administration.

The NOA Director General particularly urged Nigerians to emulate and display the selflessness and love that Christmas represents by using the celebration to pray for the good of their neighbours and the stability and progress of the nation.

He said, “If every one of us selflessly loves and cares for the next person, it will translate into a sacrificial love for our country and a genuine collective effort at national development.”

While wishing the Christian community a joyful Christmas celebration, the NOA Director General also charged Nigerians to remain law-abiding and peaceful throughout and after the Christmas season.
