Commotion as Osogbo branch of Diamond Bank locks down.

By Richard Akintade

Osogbo branch of Diamond Bank Plc was on Monday shut down on the orders of an Osun State High Court over an alleged breach of contract. Court officials and policemen invaded the bank premises of the bank located at Ogo-Oluwa area of Osogbo, the Osun State capital.

The development was said to have halted transactions at the bank, leaving many customers stranded.
One of the customers, who preferred anonymity said she had been at the entrance of the bank for over five hours as it remained under lock and key.

She said: “I felt very disappointed, I have been here for the past five hours, nobody attends to us, we were only being told that the bank was locked as a result of court order.”
Speaking in the same vein, another customer of the bank, Mr. Idowu Olawoyin said” we don’t really know why the so call Diamond bank subjects us into this mess. I came to the bank around 8:15 am, l am to do transaction only to find out that the bank is under lock.”

“We learned that the bank owed a customer a sum of 50 million naira which they fail to pay and the woman on the court order came to lock down the bank.”They are still inside, I think they are begging the woman so as to allow them to continue their operation.

“You can see, no ATM is working, they just locked us outside. We are helpless”, he said.
Meanwhile, an army officer, who also came to the back for transaction threatened to foment trouble should they fail to find the last solution to the issue within 24 hours.
