Court defers $69m suit documented against Chevron, Total until July 2

A Federal High Court Lagos, Tuesday, further deferred until July 2, a 69 million dollars suit documented by the Federal Government (FG) against Chevron Petroleum Nigeria Ltd, trying to recoup Oil Revenue.

The FG documented the suit against Chevron Nigeria Ltd, and Chevron Petroleum Nigeria Ltd, as first and second litigants respectively.

The case which was suspended for a report of procedures at the Court of Appeal, was on Tuesday, further dismissed until July 2, as the court did not sit.

The case will in this way, be additionally referenced on July 2, for a report of procedures at the Court of Appeal.

This suit is one among different suits founded by the FG, looking to recoup nearly 12 billion dollars in missing raw petroleum income from some worldwide oil organizations.

The suit was documented by FG, through its Counsel, Prof Fabian Ajogwu, (SAN) in 2016, against some International Oil Companies, to recuperate lost incomes emerging from undeclared and under-proclaimed unrefined petroleum shipments from Nigeria to various areas of the world.

The court additionally dismissed a comparable suit against Total E&P Nigeria Plc, to July 2, for report of procedures at the Appellate court

The Federal Government had sued Total E&P, asserting that the oil organization under-announced the volume of unrefined petroleum it delivered out of the nation between January 2011 and December 2014.

FG blamed the oil organization for bamboozling it as much as of 245 million dollars, by supposedly dispatching a few barrels of raw petroleum out of Nigeria, without making due settlement to the government.

It likewise recorded comparable suits against Agip Oil Company Ltd, Brasoil, Shell Western Supply and Trading Ltd among others.
