Court Orders ASUU to Call Off Strike With Immediate Effect

By Marcus Ikechukwu

The Federal Government, through the National Industrial Court has ordered the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to call off its seven months old strike immediately.

The order was given on Wednesday following the Court sitting in Abuja.

Although details of the court ruling are still sketchy as at the time of filing this brief report.

It is also not clear if ASUU leadership will yield to the call by the court to reopen the shut university gates without the government meeting their demands.

Recall that both parties have been in show of supremacy over some agreements reached in 2009 for which the Federal Government is allegedly reneging on its implementation.
