The Magistrates’ Court in Ikorodu, Lagos State, is gearing up to hear a significant legal case filed by Joseph Aloba, Mohbad’s father, seeking a Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) test for Liam, the grandson of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.

The court will deliberate on Aloba’s petition, aiming to establish Liam’s biological father, as confirmed in a statement by Monisola Odumosu, a member of the family’s legal team.

Aloba’s application, filed at the Family Court of the Ikorodu Magistrate Court, requests an order for a DNA test to be conducted at a recognized government or private medical facility in Lagos State. The expenses will be covered by the applicant.

The statement also mentioned the family’s request for Mrs. Omowunmi Aloba, Mohbad’s wife, to present herself and Liam for the DNA test.

Despite attempts to serve the court process on Mohbad’s wife at her Lekki residence, she was reportedly not available, prompting the legal team to explore alternative methods for serving the necessary documents.

Mohbad’s death in September 2023 at the age of 27 sparked controversies, leading to investigations by the Lagos State Police Command. His demise also resulted in the arrest of individuals like Naira Marley and Balogun Eletu, known as Sam Larry, among others, highlighting the complexity of the case.
