Covenant University Named Nigeria’s Best University for 2024

Covenant University has once again claimed the top spot as Nigeria’s best university in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2024. The Ota-based institution outperformed other leading Nigerian universities, reinforcing its position as a leader in higher education.

The rankings assessed 1,907 universities across 108 countries, using 18 performance indicators across five key areas: teaching, research environment, research quality, industry engagement, and international outlook. Covenant University excelled in these categories, securing the number one position ahead of the University of Ibadan, Federal University of Technology Akure, and the University of Lagos, which ranked second, third, and fourth respectively.

The 2024 rankings, which analyzed more than 134 million citations from 16.5 million research publications and gathered feedback from over 68,000 scholars worldwide, highlighted changes in the global higher education landscape.

Other Nigerian universities in the top ten include Bayero University, University of Ilorin, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and Afe Babalola University. The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta also made the list, securing the 10th spot.
