COVID-19: Gov Obiano shuts down school for flouting directive on resumption date

Royal Ambassador Foundation Schools, Onitsha has been shut down by the Anambra state government for flouting its directive on school resumption date following the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a statement released by Anambra State Ministry of Basic Education’s Permanent Secretary Dr Nwando Obiano, it was gathered that the school allowed its students and pupils to resume on January 18th  2021 and started  lessons without putting on face masks.

Recall that the Anambra State government directed that teachers in the state resumed school on January 18, while students and pupils are to resume on February 1st, as part of efforts to contain the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in the state.

Obiano who stated that the fragrant disobedience to the government’s directive by the school was an indication that it is not serving the best interest of the education in the state as well as that of the students and pupils, told parents to withdraw their children from the school whose approval has been withdrawn.
