…as Brazil tops with 5m confirmed cases

From the latest report on COVID-19, Nigeria seems to give Africa hope as COVID-19 as there is a decline in cases of the virus in the nation while there is a growing number of cases in countries across the world. This has removed Nigeria from the top five countries with cumulative deaths in Africa.
Chairman of the PTF on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha gave this information today in Abuja at the National Press Briefing. Giving the good news, Mustapha said that in the week leading to the nation’s 60th anniversary, “we noticed the drop in the number of confirmed cases and a further reduction in the number of States reporting need confirmed cases, while the rest of the world continue to declare high numbers of cases and fatalities.” According to him, Brazil has topped the new infections with over 5 million confirmed cases and recorded over 150,000 fatalities. Other countries with prevailing cases include France, Israel, Italy, Britain which are also reintroducing more restrictions and measures to curtail the spread of the pandemic within.
Meanwhile, the African continent has reported 10,615 cases from 36 countries leading to a cumulative total cases of 1, 545,099 with 37,153 deaths. Mustapha however cautioned Nigerians not to relax about the good news, said, ” the PTF urges Nigerians to change their attitude of skepticism and nonchalance to the virus, adding that Nigeria has recorded 59,738 confirmed cases and 1,113 deaths.
Also Minister of Health Dr Osagie Ehanire at the briefing today disclosed that irrespective of the decline in numbers in the last 24 hours Nigeria has recorded 155 new cases of COVID-19.According to the Minister so far Nigeria has a total confirmed cases of 59,738 out of 545,364 persons tested. Sadly, 1,13 deaths occurred in 36 states including the FCT and 51,403 discharged Cases Additionally, globally in the last few days
