Covid-19 test is free for returning students – Ogun State Govt

Ogun State Government has cancelled all forms of payment for Covid-19 test for all returning Senior Secondary School class 3 boarding students across the State.

In a release issued by the state Governor, Dapo Abiodun, the state has made the test free for all secondary school final year students in the state and those who have paid for the test would get their money refunded.

The Governor noted that the health of Ogun State Children remains the utmost priority of his administration but to conduct COVID-19 test for 5,340 private and 500 public bording students with limited testing capacity in the state may be a challenge for the Government and that he has directed that the result of the test will not be a mandatory requirement for resumption in the state.

He enjoins Private School owners to exercise their duty of care to their pupils, noting that admittance of students into boarding house in private secondary schools will be at the discretion of the management and the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) of such private schools.

The Governor added that the State recommends that students who do not have to stay in the boarding house should attend school from home, especially those with underlying health conditions, noting that the state has also made provision for face masks for all students in both private and public schools.
