Amid the controversy surrounding the Edo State gubernatorial elections, Nigerian singer Cynthia Morgan has openly criticized Davido for his involvement in the election discourse. On September 22, 2024, Morgan expressed her frustration via Instagram, labeling Davido “annoying” and accusing him of using his late mother’s Edo heritage for propaganda.
In her post, Morgan questioned Davido’s connection to the Edo people, claiming he has never truly engaged with the community. “You’re not from Edo state, neither do you know the struggles of an average Edo man or woman,” she wrote. She also urged Davido to stop using his mother’s Edo origins as a reason for his interest in the elections.
The clash follows Davido’s post on X, where he criticized the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its handling of the Edo elections. Davido explained that his concern for the election stemmed from his late mother’s Edo roots, stating, “My mom is from Edo for those wondering why I’m interested in the election.”
Morgan’s call-out has sparked a heated conversation online, with both stars drawing attention to their differing perspectives on the state’s political matters.
