Davido Sues Sophia Momodu for Full Custody of Daughter Imade

Nigerian singer Davido has reignited his dispute with his first baby mama, Sophia Momodu, by filing a lawsuit seeking full custody of their daughter, Imade Aurora Adeleke.

In the petition submitted by his lawyers, Dr. Olaniyi Arije, Okey Barrah, and others, at the Lagos State High Court on April 17, 2024, Davido outlined several reasons for his custody request, accusing Sophia of using their daughter to exploit him financially with unreasonable demands.

Davido stated, “It is on record that I have been responsible for paying all of my daughter’s school fees to provide her with the best education possible and to meet all her educational needs without any issues.”

He added, “I have also been providing money for the rent of the apartment where the respondent resides with our daughter.”

Davido further explained, “The respondent rejected the offer to stay and live in the secured Oniru apartment, which had already been purchased, but demanded that I continue to pay N5,000,000 annually for a rented facility as my contribution towards my daughter’s accommodation.”

To ensure Imade’s well-being, Davido said, “I bought a Range Rover Sport Utility Vehicle for the use of the child and the respondent to meet their transport needs, including school transportation.”

He recounted an incident where he was informed by Imade’s school that she had been absent for two weeks. When he inquired, Momodu complained about the condition of the Range Rover but had not informed him earlier. Consequently, he provided another vehicle, a Highlander SUV, and N5.8 million for the Range Rover’s repair, making it two vehicles in their use.

Davido added, “To further ensure my child’s needs are met, I also committed to covering living expenses, nanny fees, medical care, insurance, and international travel expenses.”

Despite his efforts, Davido claimed, “The respondent has continued to make outlandish and unrealistic demands to frustrate me.”

Listing other demands, he said, “The respondent is demanding I pay the nanny she hired $800 per month and a lump sum of $19,600 annually.”

Davido asserted that despite his contributions to ensuring a better life for their daughter, “the respondent has continued to show unwarranted cruelty, inflicting significant pain on me.”
