Delta Approves Over ₦400bn for Roads, Security, Infrastructure Projects

The Delta State Government has approved infrastructure projects worth more than ₦400 billion covering road construction, rehabilitation and security facilities across several parts of the state.The approvals were granted during a State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori in Asaba.

Briefing journalists after the meeting, Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Charles Aniagwu, said the projects span multiple local government areas, including Warri South, Udu, Ughelli North, Ughelli South, Ethiope East, Ethiope West, Aniocha North, Aniocha South, Ika North-East, Ika South, Ndokwa East, Ndokwa West, Bomadi, Burutu, Isoko North and Isoko South. Aniagwu said the government also approved the construction of 25 Police Divisional Headquarters across the state’s local government areas and a Special Protection Unit (SPU) base to strengthen security operations.

According to him, the approvals are part of efforts to improve infrastructure, enhance security and support economic development across Delta State. Key projects include the rehabilitation of the Aghalokpe–SPDC–Adagbrassa–Aragba Road in Okpe Local Government Area and the reconstruction of sections of major roads in Asaba. Additional works include the reconstruction of the Warri Internal Ring Road Phase 2, rehabilitation of sections of the Trans-Warri Ode-Itsekiri Road, and road upgrades in Sapele, Udu and Ughelli.

The council also approved the construction of hostels in state-owned universities, renovation of magistrate and customary courts, and the building of judges’ quarters in Osubi and Asaba.The government said the projects are aimed at improving connectivity, strengthening institutions and supporting long-term development across the state.
