By Anne Azuka

The Delta State House of Assembly Service Commission has shortlisted 61 staff members for promotion to the next levels in their service to the state.

Executive Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Sunday Ebireri, made the announcement during the commencement of the 2025 promotion interviews held at the Commission’s headquarters in Asaba. The shortlisted staff include members of the management and middle management cadres.

Mr. Ebireri, accompanied by other board members and the Secretary of the Commission, Barr. Austin Uwasike, emphasized the Commission’s commitment to maintaining an effective and responsive workforce for the Delta State Legislature.

He highlighted that recruitment, promotions, training, retraining, and welfare initiatives are top priorities for the Commission, in line with its statutory mandate.

“We will continue to motivate staff for enhanced service delivery and optimal performance. I believe that staff also owe it as a duty to put in their best always in their workplaces,” Ebireri stated.

Alignment with State Government’s Agenda
The Chairman reaffirmed the Commission’s alignment with the MORE agenda of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, praising the Governor’s commitment to the welfare of workers in the state, including those in the Legislature.

Ebireri expressed gratitude to Governor Oborevwori for funding the promotion exercise and commended Speaker Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor for approving and facilitating the process.

“His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State, always places the welfare of workers in the state as a priority. We in the Commission cannot but align with the MORE agenda of the Governor,” Ebireri noted.

Staff Motivation and Commitment
Staff members who participated in the interviews expressed appreciation for the leadership of the state and the legislature. They described the promotion exercise as a morale booster and reaffirmed their dedication to contributing positively to the system.

The promotion interviews are scheduled to last for two days.
