Delta set to kick start 2023 Headmasters’ Cup Competition Jan. 20

The 2023 edition of the Zenith Bank Delta State Headmasters’ Cup Football Competition is scheduled to kick start on January 20 and ends of February 14, 2023.

The State Commissioner for Primary Education, Mr. Sunday Onoriode who disclosed this in Asaba on Monday while speaking to newsmen on the activities lined up for the tournament said over six hundred public and private Primary schools will participate in the Competition.

Mr. Onoriode promised that this year’s competition would be an improvement on the past editions, saying that the ministry is striving to make the completion more inclusive with participation by public and private primary schools in the state.

He posited that the Preliminary stage of the competition would run simultaneously across the 25 Local Government Areas of the State.

According to Primary Education Commissioner, the competition is meant to foster the love for sports in our children at a young age and also an avenue to discover young budding talents in sports while simultaneously fulfilling the exercise needs of our children.

Onoriode averred that the competition has shown fruitful results in the past and pledged to continue to be pivotal in the development of grassroots sports in Delta state and beyond.

“This outcomes have been made possible through the commitment of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and other stakeholders in both public and private sector.

He therefore, expressed appreciation to Delta Government, the ministry of Basic and Secondary Education and in particular, the sponsor; Zenith Bank PLC for their continued support and benevolence in sponsoring the Headmasters’ Cup.

” This endeavour is worthy of emulation as Zenith Bank remains a trustworthy partner in the grassroots sports development industry, having sponsored it for the second time”, he stated.
