Delta Speaker Guwor Condoles President Tinubu, Nigerian Army Over Chief of Army Staff’s Death

On Wednesday, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, expressed his condolences to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Nigerian Army following the passing of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja. Guwor conveyed his sympathies during the plenary session and extended heartfelt condolences to the Lagbaja family from Osun State, the late General’s home state.

Guwor prayed for the peaceful repose of the late General’s soul and strength for his family during this difficult time. Lt. General Lagbaja, who passed away at the age of 56, was remembered for his significant contributions to the Nigerian Army.

Additionally, Guwor expressed condolences to the government and people of Delta State, especially those in Ughelli South Local Government Area, and to the Utuama family over the passing of former Deputy Governor, Prof. Amos Utuama, SAN. The Speaker called for a moment of silence in honor of Prof. Utuama, praying for the repose of his soul.

In other developments, the Delta State Assembly imposed a 14-day suspension on Hon. Chukwudi Dafe, the lawmaker representing Ukwuani State Constituency, due to alleged misconduct. The motion for his suspension was moved by Majority Leader, Hon. Emeka Nwaobi, and seconded by Chief Whip, Hon. Perkins Umukoro. The suspension was unanimously approved by the House. Guwor announced that a committee would be formed to investigate the matter further.
