Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor has said that henceforth, the activities of the House would be guided by the Legislative Agenda unveiled last Sunday by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

Welcoming members to plenary after the events to commemorate the first year anniversary of the 8th Assembly, Rt. Hon. Guwor, said the the policy document is in line with the MORE Agenda of the State Government.

He stated that the Thursday’s plenary brought to the end First Session of the 8th Assembly and urged members to take advantage of the experiences of the First Session to double service delivery to their constituents in lawmaking, representation and oversight of government policies, programmes and projects.

“Honourable colleagues. I welcome you back to plenary after last week splendid celebration of the first year anniversary of the 8th Assembly. I thank God Almighty for successful celebration of the anniversary. I wholeheartedly congratulate Members, Management and Staff of the House for the uncommon success of the anniversary celebration.

“The Press Briefing was exceptionally organized and outstanding; the dinner for Members and their spouses was impeccable; and the Novelty Football Match was an icing on the cake. I am tempted to register the Assembly team led by my humble self in the Nigerian Premier league.

“On a serious note, I wish to express my unquantifiable appreciation to our spouses who came out en masse to support our team. The support was massive and astonishing. In the same vein, I wish to also thank the Acting Chairman of the Commission and his Members, the staff, our aides, and everyone that came to cheer us up.

“Let me specially thank His Excellency, Rt. Hon.( Elder) Sheriff Francis Orowhedor Oborevwori, our amiable Governor, for approving our request to play the novelty football Match with Members of the State Executive Council. The commitment and talent display by the team of the State Executive Council, led by His Excellency, Sir Monday Onyeme, the Deputy Governor, was profound.

“The House is indeed very grateful to His Excellency, the Governor and his entire EXCO for this show of love and camaraderie. The House hereby dedicates the victory to His Excellency, the Governor, who is the 30th member of the House”, the Speaker said.

He also on behalf of the legislators expressed profound gratitude to all that grace the Thanksgiving Service and Reception organized to commemorate the anniversary.

“I wish to also thank His Excellency, the Governor for the spectacular unveiling of the 8th Assembly Legislative Agenda. It is a policy document of the 8th Assembly which is in line with the MORE Agenda of His Excellency, the Governor. Going forward, the activities of the House will be guided by the Legislative Agenda.

“My dear colleagues, I cannot thank you enough for the unity exhibited by all of us in ensuring the success of the anniversary celebration. You will agree with me that the Anniversary Planning Committee headed by the Majority Leader did an excellent job.

“I therefore commend the Chairman and Members of the Planning Committee for making us proud. I believe this is one of the best organised anniversary celebration of the House.

“By today’s plenary, we have come to the end of the First Session of the 8th Assembly. As we progress into the Second Session, I urge all of us to take advantage of the experiences of the First Session and double our service delivery to our constituents in lawmaking, representation and oversight of government policies, programmes and projects”, Guwor stated.
