Democracy Day: Governor Sani grants 110 Kaduna convicts amnesty

As part of activities to mark the 2024 June 12 Democracy Day, Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna state has exercised his power of prerogative of mercy and freed 110 convicts at the Kaduna Correctional Centre.

He was joined by his Comrade Femi Falana, SAN, who waa in the struggle for human rights and pro-democracy movement.

Sani urged the freed convicts to reciprocate his administration’s gesture by being of good character and behavior henceforth.

Governor Uba Sani’s administration has also used the occasion to support the operations of the Kaduna Custodial Centre, and directed the installation of solar powered streetlights in the centre and provision of operational vehicles.

He has also directed the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice to work with the Controller on other areas of need.

The event took place inside Kaduna Correctional centre with a lot of excitement in by all the beneficiaries of the amnesty, attended by several other personalities including the Chief of staff, SSG amongst others.
