The Diaspora Commitee On Good Governance and Electoral Reforms In Africa(CGGERA) has chided Gov Willie Obiano over bribery allegations to compromise the independent National Electoral Commission over the Anambra governorship election slated for November 2021.

Reacting to media reports, CGGERA president Okon Abah in a press release said the group was concerned by the development. The group advised the INEC chairman Prof Mahmoud Yakubu and his accomplices , Prof Ibeabu to resign as that was the only right thing to do in any sane society.

The group chided Gov Willie Obiano for exhibiting such desperation in a bid to install a successor after two terms of disservice to the people of Anambra state as governor.

” CGGERA is deeply concerned on the future of democracy in Nigeria, insisting that $4M US dollars of public fund channeled to compromise the outcome of the November governorship election was a great injustice to the good people of Anambra state”

Further reports indicated that Prof Ibeanu Okechuku , INEC national Commissioner in Charge of Logistics has been the arrow head of the $4M US dollar bribe. Mr Okon stated.

“We call for the immediate resignation of the INEC chair as well Prof Ibeanu so as to give some credibility in the electoral process” The group said it would continue to monitor the situation to ensure the people of Anambra were not shortchanged by Gov Obiano and his corrupt acomplices within INEC”

“The group said it had petitioned the UK and US embassies to consider a VISA ban against the trio of Prof Yakubu Mahmoud, Prof Ibeanu and governor Obiano” this is one of the ways to stem corruption in public office.

CGGERA advised President Buhari to sack the INEC chairman and the commissioner in charge of logistics should they fail to resign within seven days.
