Bayelsa State Governor, Senator , has inaugurated local government area coordinators of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors (RHA) under the state chapter of the (APC), charging them to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the party’s congresses and the 2027 presidential election.
The inauguration took place during an APC stakeholders’ meeting at the in Yenagoa.
Governor Diri reaffirmed Chief Tiwei Orunimighe as the state RHA coordinator and urged the newly appointed local government coordinators to promote inclusive leadership at both local and state levels. He also directed them to work closely with the South-South zonal coordinator, former Delta State Governor, Senator , in driving party activities.
Emphasising unity, the governor cautioned party leaders against actions that could create divisions and called for collective commitment to achieving success across wards and local government areas.
He appealed to members to temporarily set aside personal political ambitions in favour of the party’s primary objective—securing the re-election of President in 2027.
“We are aware that some of you have personal political ambitions. However, put such ambitions on hold for now. You belong to a political party that has only one ambition above every other ambition, which is the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election,” he said.
Diri added that the goal of the stakeholders’ meeting was to ensure President Tinubu’s unopposed nomination as the APC’s sole presidential candidate for the forthcoming polls.
The inaugurated RHA local government coordinators are: Kuro Matthias Nyenye (Nembe), Dr. Godson Torukuru (Yenagoa), Uroh Kiani (Brass), Engr. Biewari Orupeighe (Southern Ijaw), High Chief Okubokakpo Ombu (Sagbama), Chief Ebinyo Turner (Ogbia), Rt. Hon. Tonye Isenah (Kolokuma/Opokuma), and Hon. Orubebe Ogeibiri (Ekeremor).
In a related development, Governor Diri announced the composition of committees to oversee the APC’s forthcoming ward congresses across the state’s eight local government areas. Members include Speaker of the State Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Brass); Minister of State for Petroleum, Senator (Ekeremor); and Managing Director of the , Dr. (Ogbia), among others.
APC Acting State Chairman, Dr. Dennis Otiotio, disclosed that the party’s national secretariat had released the timetable for the congresses. Ward congresses are scheduled for February 18, 2026; local government congresses for February 21, 2026; and the state congress for March 1, 2026.
The developments underscore ongoing efforts to consolidate APC structures in Bayelsa, particularly following endorsements of President Tinubu’s re-election bid by the governor and party stakeholders in the state.
