Easter: Police, FRSC deploy 2,975 in A’Ibom

The Police in Akwa Ibom say it has deployed 2,313 Officers and Men of the Command to ensure and provide security and maintenance of peace and order during the Easter festivities.

This is even as the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, said it has also deployed a total of 662 personnel including Special Marshalls to enhance the Corps visibility and ensure free traffic flow during the Easter celebration.

A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Odiko MacDon made available to newsmen in Uyo on Friday said such deployment has been made to strategic locations, including worship centres, motor parks, amusement centres.

The FRSC statement was endorsed by the State Command’s Public Relations Officer, Paul James, titled ‘Easter celebration : Need for safety consciousness’ and made available to newsmen on Friday

It said it also deployed 10 patrol vehicles, two ambulances and one tow truck for effective coverage of critical areas, prompt rescue and response to distress calls and speedy removal of obstructions from the highways during the period.

The Police statement said the State Commissioner of Police, Waheed Ayilara also felicitated with the people of Akwa Ibom while thanking God for the prevailing peace in the State.

“The CP also congratulated the Government of Pastor Umo Bassey Eno for the developmental strides.

“He particularly prayed for the peace and progress of Akwa Ibom State and called on the good People of the State to remain steadfast in the pursuit of peace, unity and progress of the State.

“The CP is clear on the evil machinations of criminal elements. He has reminded them to leave the State as there will be no hiding place for them.” It said.
