EFCC: VeryDarkMan Arrested Over Multiple Petitions, To Face Charges Soon

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed the arrest of social media influencer Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, over multiple petitions alleging cyberstalking.

EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale disclosed this to BBC News Pidgin on Monday, stating that the arrest followed numerous complaints submitted by various individuals.

“We arrested him to respond to a series of allegations raised against him by some petitioners,” Oyewale said. “He will be released once he meets bail conditions, and we intend to charge him to court soon. We are law-abiding and following due process.”

When asked whether the arrest was linked to Guaranty Trust Bank, Oyewale clarified that the petitions came from different individuals and not from the bank, adding that the commission has a responsibility to act on complaints brought before it.

He further confirmed that preparations are underway to arraign the controversial activist in court.
