Eggon Stakeholders Endorse Ombugadu for Nasarawa North Senate Seat

By Abel Zwanke, Lafia

Thousands of stakeholders from the Eggon ethnic group in Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State have endorsed Dr. David Emmanuel Ombugadu for the Nasarawa North senatorial seat ahead of the 2027 general elections. The endorsement was announced during a stakeholders’ meeting attended by political leaders, community representatives, and members of women and youth groups from across the Eggon community.

Ombugadu, a former governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 and 2023 elections, recently defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Speaking at the gathering, Ombugadu said his decision to leave the PDP was influenced by internal disputes within the party. According to him, the ongoing leadership disagreements had affected party operations and members at the grassroots level.

He said joining the APC would provide a stronger platform to pursue development initiatives for Nasarawa North if elected to the Senate.Ombugadu also expressed support for Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule, noting that infrastructure projects across the state demonstrate the administration’s development efforts.Responding to speculation about a possible deputy governorship ambition, Ombugadu said the focus remains on the future political process and that decisions would be guided by developments ahead of the 2027 elections.

Speaking on behalf of women at the meeting, community leader Mary Anzaku expressed support for Ombugadu and urged him to continue engaging with stakeholders across the region.Ombugadu also announced a N3 million reward for anyone who composes a campaign song promoting his senatorial ambition and President Bola Tinubu, and donated funds to support logistics for attendees.
