Kaduna State Governor , Malam Nasiri El-Rufai will lead of pack of dignitaries expected today (Friday) at the Sani Abacha Stadium Kano to honour late General Murtala Mohammed.
The gathering will also witness the presences of the country’s Service Chiefs, the host Governor Abdullahi Umar Gandujie and thousands of football followers at the finals of the 37th Ramat International Cup.
According to the organizers of the championship, Governor El-Rufai will be joining his Kano counterpart and the Service Chiefs and the fans to celebrate the late General, who died as a hero to be always remembered.
Bauchi State U-16 team will battle their Kwara State counterpart in the finals to decide who takes home this year’s trophy sponsored annually by the Kano State government.
To get to the final, both teams drew their semi final matches against Rivers and Kogi States respectively with 1-1, 0-0 scoreline.
But in the penalty kicks, Bauchi was the luck side against Rivers as they triumphed 4-2 while Kaduna were 3-1 lucky against Kogi.
Also today, the finals of the selected invitational relay for selected seconfary schools across the country will hold.
Speaking about the competition, the President of Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria,YSFON) , Dr. Nasiru Yusif Gawuna said that the body will continue to extend its appreciation to the Kano State Government ably lead by Dr. Gandujie for its support of their programme and remembrance of the great national and international hero, late General Murtala Ramat Mohammed.
