Emir of Gaya, Alhaji Abdulkadir dies in Kano

Alhaji Ibrahim Abdulkadir, the Emir of Gaya in Kano, is dead.

The Emir’s death was confirmed by the Ajiyan Gaya, Malam Shamsu Isa Kademi.

According to him, Late Emir of Gaya died in his Gaya place at the age of 91.

He was among those elevated to the rank of first class Emir by Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje in 2019.

He has been on the throne since his appointment as Sarkin Gaya district head of Gaya in 1990.

He held several traditional positions such as district head of Kunchi, district head of Minjibir among others.

Gaya is one of the five emirates in Kano.
