By Achadu Gabriel, Kaduna

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), North-Western zone has decried non-inclusion of her members in the recently constituted board for the North-West Development Commission (NWDC).

Chairman of the North West Zone of the association, Elder Sunday Oibe, who made assertion said the exclusion is unacceptable and raises concerns about religious bias under the current administration of President Bola Tinubu.

The body therefore called on President Tinubu to review the membership of the NWDC and ensure adequate representation for Christians in the North-West zone, citing the significant population of Christians across all seven states in the region.

“With indigenous Christian communities in states like Kaduna, Kano, and Katsina, the association emphasized that their interests cannot be ignored adding that the people deserves a voice on this critical commission.

“Review the membership of the NWDC and ensure adequate representation for Christians in the North-West zone, there’s significant population of Christians across all seven states in the region.

The CAN’s concerns are echoed by other groups, such as the Northern Christian Youth Professionals (NCYP) who have also spoken out against the lack of Christian representation on the NWDC board.
