Nigerian rapper Falz is making headlines after being linked to a controversy involving popular crossdresser Bobrisky and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Social media personality Very Dark Man recently released an audio clip, claiming that Falz and his father, Femi Falana, a renowned Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), helped Bobrisky avoid charges related to money laundering.

In the viral audio, Bobrisky allegedly admitted to paying ₦15 million to certain EFCC officers to dismiss the charges against him. He further claimed that, instead of serving a prison sentence for abusing the naira, he was kept in a private apartment. The crossdresser also hinted at receiving legal assistance from an unnamed SAN and his son, which many speculated to be Femi Falana and Falz.

The EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, confirmed that the Commission’s Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, has ordered an investigation into the matter following the allegations. This revelation has sparked widespread reactions on social media, with Falz trending as Nigerians express their opinions on the issue.

One user defended Falz, saying, “Providing legal services is not a crime. Bobrisky is entitled to a defense, just like anyone else.” Another user expressed shock over Falz’s alleged involvement, stating, “I’m really surprised to hear that Falz is connected to this matter.”

Bobrisky was previously arrested by the EFCC in April 2024 for flaunting and spraying new naira notes at a movie premiere, an act considered as mutilating the naira. Although he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to four months in prison, the new allegations suggest he may not have served his full sentence.

With Falz trending across social media platforms, the controversy continues to unfold as Nigerians await further updates on the EFCC’s investigation.
