FCT Minister assures corps members of security, welfare

Minister of Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Alhaji Muhammadu Musa Bello, has assured members of the 2018 Batch C ‘stream II’ members of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, of their security and welfare all through their service year.

The Minister who was represented by the Director, Finance and Administration, FCT Social Development Secretariat, Hajiya Sefiya Umar, during the swearing-in ceremony of the newly encamped corps members in Abuja, congratulated the corps members on their successful arrival to the orientation camp.

While assuring them of the NYSC’s favourable treatment which will be based on their determination to undertake the sacrifice for their country, he added that the security and welfare of all corps members remains top priority for the FCT administration.

The minister also lauded the management/staff of the NYSC for their relentless efforts towards ensuring the success of recurrent orientation programmes, as well as the constant organisation of the youth service year.

“Congratulations for meeting the NYSC uncompromising prerequisites for mobilization, and for making it safely to camp and as well registering successfully for participation in this exercise. I heartily and warmly receive you all into the FCT, you are at home.

“I must inform you that your security and welfare is our priority. All the machineries have been put in place both in human and material resources to deal with any challenging situation. I receive you all once again, into the FCT with joy and optimism that your orientation course and stay in the FCT will be memorable and well spent.

“Be informed and rest assured that the FCTA and the NYSC management undertake to treat your voluntary determination to be part of the process of rebuilding and unity of this nation as a sacrifice that must be accorded due nourishment and preservation.

“I urge you to bear in mind that the oath of allegiance you subscribed to this morning is a solemn commitment to play by these set of rules at all times. It is expected that you are guided, tolerant, disciplined and focused.

“In the midst of all these, I charge you to resonate your inner minds towards self-sufficiently and leverage its essence.

“Let me also specially appreciate the resolute doggedness of the NYSC Directorate Headquarters for a sustainable and successful prosecution of seamless orientation programmes at all times.” He said

Also speaking at the event, the FCT NYSC Coordinator, Mr. Bello Ballama, charged the newly sworn-in corps members to emulate qualities of integrity, tolerance and discipline as their watchwords throughout their stay in camp.

He further thanked the FCTA for its concerted collaboration with the management of the NYSC to ensure the success of the youth service scheme. He said:

“These exercise and programme were crafted to give you that paradigm shift to self-reliance and sufficiency. Choose the path of integrity, tolerance, resolute and be disciplined, a charge you must ride on throughout the orientation exercise and the service year.

“The consistency and gracious support the NYSC FCT enjoys from the Hon. Min. of FCT is not to be over emphasized. Let me assure the FCTA and NYSC management of the effective utilization of scarce resource with ultimate prudence as a token of appreciation for their magnanimity.”
