FCT Police Apprehend Notorious Kidnapper, Rescue Victims

The Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the FCT Police Command has made a significant breakthrough by arresting one notorious kidnapper, identified as Saidu Abdulkadir, during a raid on their camps bordering Nasarawa and Abuja via Kuje area council.

According to a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer of the FCT Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, the arrest of the kidnapper followed a midnight raid on Thursday, during which the bandits engaged the police in a gun duel before eventually being overpowered.

The operation led to the rescue of two abducted individuals, Habu Yakubu and Isufu Abubakar, who were found unhurt. The apprehended suspect, Saidu Abdulkadir, also known as Dahiru Adamu, is reportedly a key figure in the kidnapping syndicate.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Abdulkadir and his accomplices were allegedly involved in the kidnapping and subsequent killing of Mr. Sunday Yahaya Zakwai, the District Head of Ketti village.

While efforts are underway to apprehend other wanted suspects still at large, the Commissioner of Police for the FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh, reassured residents that there would be no respite for criminals in the territory. He urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities through designated emergency lines.

The arrest comes amidst a surge in kidnapping incidents in the FCT, with criminals targeting individuals for ransom. Notably, the recent abduction of Najeebah and her sisters, along with their father, underscored the severity of the situation, with the kidnappers demanding a hefty ransom for their release.
